About Me

Hello, my name is Jenny Gibbs and I am a Counsellor, Kids Wellbeing Therapist and Life Coach. I have two children of my own; a girl and a  boy, and I live and work in Surrey. I spent the earlier part of my career in London, working within mental health as a Psychiatric Nurse. I have worked both within the NHS and the private sector and with a wide range of individuals with many complex needs, including both child and adolescent services and eating disorders.

Having seen first hand the destructive nature of mental illness and its ability to rob children of their futures, I knew I needed to work with children in helping them the skills they need to cope with life’s obstacles and challenges.

I have undertaken  further training across the disciplines of counselling and coaching. These include a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, Person-Centred/Existential (CPCAB), a Diploma in  Counselling Children and Young People (CPCAB, L5), an ICF accredited coaching training programme, a Foundation Course in Psychotherapy and Counselling at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC) and an Introduction to Group Analysis.

I have completed training in CBT for Child and Adolescent Disorders and am currently completing my Diploma in Child Psychology.

I am trained by Youth Mindfulness (www.youthmindfulness.org) and am qualified to deliver their amazing Youth Mindfulness for Kids Programme – the programme is a 16-lesson introduction to mindfulness for 7 to 11 year olds, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning.   I have also completed and am certified to deliver their SOMA training programme which is an innovative approach to teaching mindfulness to teens and young adults.

I have also completed my Professional Training in the Applied use of Mindfulness for 12-18 year olds from the British Mindfulness Institute.

I have completed Level one ‘Connected Kids’ training for teaching children mindfulness and meditation.

(This course is an Accredited course in teaching mindfulness and meditation for children/teens and provides the advanced information and skills necessary to deliver bespoke meditations and mindful activities to children of all ages (toddlers to teens) and of all abilities including those with autism or additional support needs).

I hold an enhanced DBS check and continue to attend regular CPD trainings (Continued Professional Development).

I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and Accredited member of the NCS (National Counselling Society).

Everyone wants their kids to feel confident – to believe in themselves and to go for their dreams. We want the children to learn that confidence comes from within and is based on believing in themselves – knowing that what they say to themselves is more important than what anyone else says to them. If they think they can, they can!

Connecting with kids in a way that creates positive change in their lives!
